Community Rallies around Stratford STEM Magnet High School

East Nashville residents have rallied around their community schools and supported the Academies of Stratford. East Nashville’s newest school supporter is the CommunityPTO.

The CommunityPTO is made up of local school PTO officers, involved parents and members of the community who desire to see the Stratford STEM Magnet High School cluster in East Nashville reach and maintain its potential. This is an entirely new way of doing PTO–where the community comes together to actively create the future reality, one in which schools have adequate support and resources and families feel connected and empowered.

The CommunityPTO has been active in the 2013-2014 school year.  Tailgating at Stratford STEM Magnet High School games became a favorite Friday afternoon tradition.  The CommunityPTO even sponsored the Stratford Chili Cook Off in which six entries vied for best chili. In addition, as the temperatures dropped the CommunityPTO rallied to support academy of Stratford students with a coat and clothing drive. In November, the CommunityPTO rallied at a School Board Meeting to show their East Side Pride and promote the Stratford Cluster. In less than a month, nearly $3,800 has been raised!
