Metro School Choices Explained
Partnering with you and your family, we will strive to provide your child with the educational experience they need in order to graduate prepared to be successful in college, the professional world, and in life.
Metro Nashville Public Schools uses a zoning system to assign students to the school that is nearest to them. You can verify which school falls within your zone by using our Zone Finder. However, if you would prefer to send your child to a school other than your zoned school, you can fill out an Optional Application to your preferred school.
Before you apply to a school, you should take the time to explore and visit schools that you are interested in. Once you are ready to apply, you will need to go through our application process.
How It Works:
You can submit an Optional Application at any point during the year.
You can apply to a maximum of seven schools.
You will need to rank your choices in order of preference, 1 to 7.
If you are new to Metro Schools and want to apply to an optional school for the current school year, you must submit a paper application. Please download the application and return it to the MNPS Family Information Center at 2601 Bransford Avenue, 37204.
