Academies of Nashville
Through their academy, students are exposed to a multitude of career and college opportunities, industry skills, and potential employers by way of classroom speakers, site visits, job shadowing and internships. Families have their choice of more than 36 different academies within the 12 largest neighborhood high schools in MNPS.

Certifications
Most of our career pathways offer a nationally-recognized industry certification. In the 2018-2019 school year, 64% or 717 students passed these certifications ranging from Autodesk Certified User to a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant across the MNPS district.
College Credit
Every single career pathway of student within the Academies of Nashville has an aligned college credit-bearing course. Many career pathways allow students to earn up to 12 hours of college credit in the career area.
Internships and Job Shadowing
Internships allow student to see the realities of a profession or industry and the connections between learning and the real world.
Job shadowing connects students with the real working world and gives them an insider's view of a profession and the everyday duties and responsibilities.
Advanced Academics
In 2018-2019 school year, 378 students passed AP exams among the 34 courses offered; 585 Cambridge AICE exams were passed; and 331 International Baccalaureate exams were passed.
Partnerships
Business and community partners are essential factors in preparing students for life after high school and are integral to the educational experiences students receive, including a career exploration fair, industry field trips, and academy showcases. There are more than 360 partners working with our academies.

Our Story
Whether it is a student, a teacher, or a business partner, there are thousands of stories of how the Academies of Nashville have impacted lives.
During the 2006-2007 school year, the Academies of Nashville was only a dream—an ambitious, high school transformation effort that would bring together families, educators, and the community to improve our schools. Ten years later, that dream has come to fruition. Graduation rates have increased. Student attendance is at an all-time high. Discipline referrals have significantly dropped. Business engagement in the school system has never been stronger and more powerful. But, there is much more to this success than the statistics alone. It is the stories that touch our hearts. While this Storybook only captures a snapshot of the work and accomplishments of the past decade, it is a reflection of the lives that have been touched and changed because of the Academies of Nashville and Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. We would like to thank our graduates, teachers, administrators, business partners, legislators, families and all of our stakeholders for supporting this effort and the work that is yet to come.
